History:

Being the youngest of his family, Takeru grown up as the baby of the family. While his family loved him, it didn't stop his parents from a divorce when he was three. His older brother, Yamato, lived with his dad while Takeru lived with his mom. For the next four years, Takeru was able to see the rest of his family at times and sometimes he didn't.

Although, his live changed one day during a summer camp with his friends. After stumbling into a new place called the digital world, Takeru seemed as if he was only one who viewed this whole affair with glee and joy. However, it soon became clear that he wished he was just as strong as his friends and wanted his digimon to divolve like the others. While he was able to so and defeats Devimon, Takeru also lost his partner momentarily and still had issues with it for years to come.

As his digimon slowly regained strength throughout the adventure, Takeru started to see how bad the situation was. After being tricked and seeing his friends die, he wanted to do the protecting instead. He wasn't a child anymore. Despite Yamato refusing otherwise, he was able to prove him wrong. When he went with Puppetmon, he was able to save his friends and himself without anyone's help. While this kickstarted his brother's depression, Yamato told him to be strong for him.

And so he did.

While his friends were escaping from Piedmon, Takeru kept on having faith. His brother told him not to give up and so he didn't. This made his digimon divolve and destroy Piedmon for good. Although, he faced Apocalymon afterwards. Just like his friends, he too didn't give up and said that he'll keep on fighting no matter what.

Of course, he was forced to say goodbye to his partner and hoped that one day he would see his digimon again.

Personality:

Compared to most of his teammates, Takeru is one of the youngest ones. Due to this, he doesn't have much experience with the world around him. However, throughout his canon, he went from being a naive little kid to someone who never gave up despite the darkest of situations.

The first thing that's known about Takeru is that he's an optimist. Being only seven, he tends to see everything with wide-eyed innocence and sees everything as a game. When he first entered the digital world, he was the only one who didn't question that he has a digimon partner. He simply just has one and that he was going to have fun with him! This was also proven when he was confronted by Elecmon and told them that fighting wasn't the answer. Instead, he opted that they have a tug of war so they wouldn't scare all the babies. Lastly, because he's so optimistic, he holds dearly to the belief that his parents would eventually get back together some day. Despite them being separated for 4 years, he still doesn't stop him from believing it.

Due to this, he's also very naive. Since he doesn't have much experience with the world, he thinks that everyone is honest and willing to help. When he was all by himself, he wanted to go straight up to Devimon and ask where his friends were even though he was the one who scattered them in the first place. Despite Elecmon telling him otherwise, he still wanted to try. In addition to that, when he was separated by his brother, he held on to DemiDevimon's words about how Yamato abandoned him. Again, his partner was trying to tell him otherwise but he didn't listen. He simply just ran off saying how he didn't want to his partner anymore.

On that note, since Takeru is only seven, he doesn't think too much about the consequences to his actions. Outside of the mentioned fight, he also got into another one when he told Patamon how he didn't want him to discuss his family issues and told him to leave if he didn't like it. Another example would be when he followed Jyou into the Odaiba Bay to get his friends back without thinking that he would get attacked. In addition, he is usually one of the first people to rush into something that excites him in the digital world as well.

Although, despite how impulsive the boy can be, he's also pretty smart. After all, it takes a lot of wit and smarts to live in the digital world. While he has been able to survive on his own without any of his friend's help, the most prominent example would be when he first met Puppetmon. When he was forced to go play with the digimon, he told a lie to Puppetmon's henchman and hid somewhere else before they could find him. He was also able to buy some time when he told the enemy that he wanted to see some of his friends. With this, he was able to destroy his plans and thus, help save his friends as well.

Since Takeru is a pretty smart boy, he also knows that he can no longer be a child anymore. He has to do his fair share of helping his friends out. That's where his development starts kicking in. Even though he hasn't changed much, his own fears about fighting and being weak were shown throughout his canon.

For most of his life, he was always the baby and hated violence above all else. During the first few episodes of Digimon Adventures, Takeru has been very vocal about how much he doesn't want to fight and would rather find a more peaceful alternative. Although, as the show progressed, he knows that such matters cannot be addressed so nicely. With how many of his friends dying, he knows that has to fight no matter what. Which was why he told his brother to stop treating him like a child, he doesn't need protection. He wanted to be equal with his friends. And you know what? It was worth it in the end when he proved he was able to fight on his own without any of his teammates. When his digimon digvolved into MagnaAngemon and beat Piedmon.

On top of that, he was one of the first people to say that they shouldn't give up during their fight with Apocalymon. It shows how much he has grown from a kid who didn't want to fight to someone who saw how important to was.

Overall, Takeru is a kid with a lot ahead of him. He is kind, honest, and willing to help others. However, he's also impulsive, emotional, and selfish. He has made plently of mistakes but he wanted to be the brother that Yamato could be proud of.

Gem Considerations: Hiddenite on his forehead. Hiddenite is a stone about hope which is perfect for Takeru since that is his power in his canon. On top that, it's also a stone about moving on from tragedy, it also fits into how he is slowly able to rise above from his parent's divorce and what has seen during his adventures. It's also a stone about helping people with their emotions which Takeru also does. After all, when he talks to the others, they tend to speak honestly to only him.

That and it also provides something I want to do for the boy in this game. While he has been able to improve his own self-worth throughout Digimon Adventures, he's usually seen as being with someone all the time. Whether it's with Patamon or the others, he will eventually need to learn how to deal with issues that will be difficult for by himself. On top of that, Takeru has issues about abandonment. He is still only 7 years old, he still has a long way to go.

Power considerations:
List Three Powers You Would Like Your Character To Have:
  • Flight

  • Light Manipulation (More specifically, just something to drive the enemies away with light)

  • Empathy

Without his digimon, Takeru is just as normal as any other 7 year old kid. Since his power is fuelled by being in the digital world, he can longer use it here. Although, he would be pretty happy to know that he can can use said powers himself this time around!

Sample:

While it may seem strange to some people but Takeru simply adored the rain. Whenever he could feel a storm coming by, he would quickly run back into his house and watched the raindrop hit the window with excitement. After all, it also meant that sometimes his mother would watch a movie with him or maybe she can play with him! Although, today wasn't one of those days. Instead, there was a thunderstorm. Sometimes, he would hide under his bed until the storm went away. At other times, he would go to his mother to comfort him. However, today he was feeling confident and dared to do the impossible.

As he bit his lips, he mumbled to himself before marching forward to the window. When the light suddenly flashed before him, he gave a sudden yell as he took a couple of steps back. With his hand on his mouth, he didn't want to make any loud noises since he knows his mom was busy now. Trying his best not to look for her, he gulped once more before taking a step forward. Once he heard the echoing of the thunder, he found himself sitting by the window and watching the raindrops go by. As he hugged a nearby pillow, a thought came to him. He had to wonder, just what would his brother say about this?

Would they tell him to overcome his fears and to never give up? Still, as his grip tightens, he gave a small pout before mumbling to himself. He didn't want to give up, thunderstorms weren't that bad. There were plenty of scarier stuff he had seen and he managed them just fine!

"I don't want to disappoint Yamato...I want to tell him I can handle this. No mean old thunderstorm will scare me!" Of course, as he mumbled to himself, that was when the power got cut off. In the end, while he continued to cry, at least he can successfully say that he was getting there. One day, he will get over his fears of thunderstorms.
